Bridgeport police learned of the shootings around 12:30 a.m. after a man was brought to Bridgeport Hospital by private vehicle, and another man was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center, both with gunshot wounds, said Av Harris, spokesman for the department.
Harris said the man at Bridgeport Hospital was in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his torso.
The second man, who has not been identified, died from his injuries following surgery around 6 a.m., Harris said.
Evidence suggests that both victims were shot in the area of Asylum and Plymouth streets where patrol officers located a crime scene, Harris added.
